Submission of manuscripts
Manuscripts (articles or short reports) and summaries for publication, together with proofs and correspondence concerning proofs, should be sent to scientific.reports@portcros-parcnational.fr, with copy to the Editor in Chief, Professor Charles F Boudouresque, Mediterranean Institute of Oceanography, case 901, Campus universitaire de Luminy, 13288 Marseille CEDEX 9, France (charles.boudouresque@mio.osupytheas.fr) and to Alain Barcelo, Parc national de Port-Cros, 181 allée du Castel Sainte-Claire, BP 70220, 83406 Hyères CEDEX, France. All correspondence concerning manuscripts having joint or multiple authorship is transacted with one author only.
Editorial policy
Scientific articles and short reports are accepted on the basis of their originality and the discussion presented. Every paper will be evaluated by referees in the paper field who are chosen by the Editor in Chief and the Head of the Service Connaissance pour la gestion de la biodiversité of the Port-Cros National Park. Final responsibility for the selection of papers rests with the Scientific Council of the Port-Cros National Park. Accepted papers normally will be published in turn according to the date of final acceptance, but priority will be given to short reports.
The manuscript must be prepared according to the instructions which follow. Publication will be facilitated if authors ensure that the manuscript and illustrations meet the requirements outlined below. Submissions not meeting these requirements will be returned to the author(s).
Manuscripts
Contributions will be written preferably in French or in English, alternatively in Italian, Spanish (Castilian) or Catalan. Manuscripts should be submitted in digital format. All parts of the manuscript, including abstracts, references, footnotes, tables, and figure legends should be typewritten, simple-spaced.
All pages should be numbered serially. The title page should have the title, the name(s) of the author(s), the affiliation(s) of the author(s) (in italics), and abstracts (only research articles). The abstracts (usually 200-500 words) should indicate both the main results and the main conclusions reported in the manuscript. Abstracts must be supplied in English and in French; French translation can be made by the Editor; additional abstracts are welcome. For articles in English and the English abstract, authors should indicate in the acknowledgments the name of the person (native English speaker) who provided the translation or proof read the manuscript.
The text of scientific articles normally should be divided into sections (e.g. Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, References) appropriate to the nature of the paper. « Short reports » need not be divided into these sections. Latin names should be in italics; the first mention of the Latin name of a species in the text should be accompanied by the authority; authority should be typed in romans (e.g.: Posidonia oceanica (Linnaeus) Delile). References cited in the text should be typed as: Blanc and Jeudy de Grissac (1978) or (Blanc and Jeudy de Grissac, 1978), Boudouresque (2015) or (Boudouresque, 2015). If reference is made in the text to publications written by more than two authors, the name of the first author should be used followed by « et al. »: Médail et al. (2013) or (Médail et al., 2013). Main headings should be typed in bold romans, first sub-headings in bold roman with an indentation, without serial number, second sub-headings in bold italics with an indentation. In articles longer than 30 pages, the headings and sub-headings may be numbered in Arabic numerals (1, 2, 2.1, 2.2, etc.). The first line of each paragraph will be indented. Symbols, units, and nomenclature should conform to international usage. The Si (metric) system should be used throughout.
